Leak data and graph

Post by Crist » Tue Jul 15, 2014 8:51 pm

I'm still very much a newbie just 12 nights into using my rental machine and tracking my data but I am feeling so much better than I was before treatment

Quite a few of those nights I have woken in the morning finding that I have removed the mask during the night without any knowledge of doing so or waking up. Those nights I have only had between 2.5 and 3.5 hours on the machine and the data looks good even though I know that its not representative of the whole night due to the short usage time. The leak graphs look good on those nights so I don't think it is leaks causing me to remove the mask. I'm guessing that the removing the mask is just a case of adjusting to CPAP, especially as this last week I've had more good nights.

On the good nights, where I've had 6.5 - 8.5 hours on the machine and not removed the mask then I have good AHI results, but, for 3 out of 4 of those nights, the leak graph is all over the place. On these 4 good nights my data has been:
Time over leak red line: 0.95%, 10.649%, 5.14% and 26.54%
95% leak stat: 18, 32.4, 30, 32.4

Should I be worried about the leak graph & data if I'm getting a good solid stretch of sleep on the machine with good AHI results?

This one I would worry about if I saw it happening often. Roughly 1/4 of the time was spent in large leak territory.
How far into large leak territory would be something I would look at. Is it 26 L/min or 36 L/min or higher?
Since most of the time your large leak isn't nearly so prolonged I don't know that I would worry about it at this time.

Thanks for the reply Pugsy, I'm still trying to come to grips with the therapy and the data so your reassurance helps as you pointed out there's really only 1 night that it has been that high. On the nights since my OP the leak rates were lower and my AHI was good too, fingers crossed it was just a bad night. I've ordered a mask liner so hopefully that will help with leaks & comfort. Just have to keep sticking at it I'm counting myself amount the lucky ones who seem to be having a fairly smooth transition into the world of hoseheads, this forum has been a fantastic source of information & encouragement.
