Still sooooo tired all the time !!!!!
Still sooooo tired all the time !!!!!
Hi I was told I have severe sleep apnea about 7months ago. I have most of my trouble when going into Rem sleep... I stopped breathing 45 times in 1hour in my sleep study when I went into rem sleep. I started with Cpap machine but a couple of months ago was switched to bipap because I usually take my mask off about 2 hours after I go to sleep. So my Dr. said since I have COPD as well that about 2 hours after I go to sleep is when the cpap is needed and that I couldn't push the air out of my lungs when the cpap blowing in my face so that's why she switched me. Anyway I feel some what better then I did before using CPAP or BIPAP ,but I am still having trouble with energy...I just feel so tired all the time. I have been trying to find out what was wrong for about 10 years ..I would go to Dr after Dr and no one could find out what was wrong so when I found out I was so excited because I thought finally I will feel better. But I don't and like I said most nights even after changing ti BIPAP I'm am still taking my mask off after about 2 hours. I am so discouraged I just don't know what to do. Every morning when I get up I think " how am I gonna make it thru this day". Sorry if I have rambled ,but it just seems like I can't keep my thoughts to gather anymore either. I would be grateful for any replys .......Thanks Jules

You're not getting treated on 2 hrs a night. You need to find some way to keep the mask on... some people tape it to their face with blue painter's tape (least bothersome to remove) so that they don't do it when half aroused. When did you last have a real check-up, with labwork beyond your thyroid? Or a respiratory function test? And did your MD seem aware that Cpaps have a feature called EPR that help you exhale when you need help to do it? I know Cpap is contraindicated with COPD, so I wonder if you've seen a pulmonologist recently... bipap or no bipap. And are you checking things with software to see just how much that mask might be leaking therapy air to the room each night? Those masks are a bit notorious for leaks.

post the resmed REF number in your comments. H5i is the model number of the *humidifier* and is common across the whole resmed S9 line.Jules72 wrote: Additional Comments: ResMed H5i Bi Pap-couldn't find on the list

Re: Still sooooo tired all the time !!!!!
Before I could make any serious attempt at suggestions I'd need to know at least three things:
Get your machine model number off the back of the blower... not the humidifier.
What made you and you doctor decide a Total face mask was right for you?
Are you willing and capable of installing some sleep software?
You seem to be pulling your mask off just at or right after you hit the initial REM sleep stage; that is, just when your pressures ramp up. See image below. Your problem could be leaks, your mask flexing with some noise involved, REM sleep disorder or a host of other things. Sleep software such as Sleepyhead will help the community zero in on your issues. As someone smarter than me on this forum once said: No compliance, no improvement. Ask for help with your software and we will set you up.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
