Congrats!! How long have you been on CPAP before this happened? Wondering when this might happen for me! I toss and turn all night, sleeping in between. Was on CPAP for 2 weeks, off a month and now on only one week so I expect it will take a while!

Thank you all...

So, I have been using CPAP/BIPAP/ASV since Jan 2011, but that time has been off and on... used CPAP for 3 months, had another sleep study.... used BIPAP for almost a year and still stopped breathing every night.. stoped using everything untill May the 5th last month when I fought to get my ASV...

So, long story short, a little over a month using ASV, keeping my mask on all the time and BAM, it happened, slept through the night.... I have heard other people say it just worked for them and I have wished it would "work" for me up untill now....

That do it again part is hard

My most awesome night was about 2 weeks into cpap usage, two years ago. I do sleep way better than pre-cpap, and I do have some nights of over 7 hours straight which are great, but the one night back in May of 2012 was over 8 hours straight, and the only time I have done that. I have no idea what was different that night. I can still get a 5 and 2or 3 split which is great. But anything over 7 straight is truly awesome for me. People accuse me of drinking an energy drink when I haven't.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

my current record is something around 12 1/2 hours straight...UNHEARD of pre-apap. In that time, I would have been up for a bathroom break like 3 times. Let the good times roll!

So how did you feel?

I have been on cpap for over 2 years and I still feel tired all the time.

I am starting to feel better, but it is slow... I am starting to remember things more and not "feeling tired" as much.. Perfect example, I can now drive home 20 minutes without falling asleep driving 2 to 6 times in the evening... I call that success... Before I started this, I could fall asleep at stop lights and not wake up untill the person behind me hit the horn, thats when I knew there was a problem, I just didn't know what untill they sent me for a sleep study...

Tatooed Lady, ohhhh how I wish I could sleep that long..

Congrats on your success!
It's interesting to see how apnea affects different people. It's no wonder that people get confused when they first get started on cpap - each case is unique. I've never had big problems with arousals with my apnea. In fact I really doubted I had a problem with my night breathing cause I'd sleep "soundly" most every night. But just before my doc suggested the home test I experienced a couple weird "wake and gasp" episodes while napping.

Live and learn, right?

Amy
