Used APAP equipment

Post by Ric » Sun Jun 29, 2014 9:22 am

Is there a marketplace for "lightly experienced" CPAP/APAP equipment?

Sure. Post it here.
People like to see a screenshot of how many hours of use it has.

Thanks dcheddar! I should have worded my question a bit more carefully... I have a friend who would like to acquire an APAP, even has a prescription, but is using a CPAP. Her insurance won't pay for an APAP until the 5 years since she bought the CPAP are up (new machine every 5 years is their rule). In the meantime I thought she could buy an inexpensive one out-of-pocket. If I recall there used to be a craigslist style marketplace for CPAP equipment, but I can't find one like that currently. -THANKS !

You are thinking of the cpapauction that we used to have here...it's closed down now.

Watch the forum for private party sales...they do happen here on occasion.

Another source for gently used machines would be secondwindcpap.com. Check them out.
Of course for new machines...cpap.com our forum hosts. The APAP can be bought with the cpap RX from cpap.com.

Craigslist has worked for me, but, of course, you are on your own in terms of knowing what to buy, how to check it out, etc. You may have to watch for a while to get a good deal.

You also get a lot of people who want way too much for their machine. You get a lot of people who bought a legacy Remstar Plus machine in 2006, got billed $3000 by the DME, although insurance only paid $1000. They think it should be worth $1000 now, when really it's pretty worthless.

If you watch for a while, you may find a good PRS1 Auto or S9 AutoSet for $200 or $300, but you may have to watch for a few months.

If it's midnight and a DME tells you it's dark outside, go and check for yourself.

First thing i thought was "Is that the same Ric?" and lo and behold it is. Good to see familiar names resurface from time to time.
