ok, how 'bout this... your statement is meaningless, alarmist and misleading for someone taking 4kiu of vitamin d supplement, yes, you can take too much, the mayo clinic notes that taking 50,000iu per day for several months has been show to cause hypercalcemia.
so, yes, while you are *technically* correct in your statement, it doesn't relate to the issue at hand.
And your statement is impolite, incorrect and oversimplifies the situation. The OP asked a question: "Can you take too much?", and I answered, yes. How is that stating that he is likely to overdose on 4000IU? I finished with "do research" and "ask your doctor", which is absolutely the right thing to do. You don't know if he meant to increase the dose, or whether s/he might have a condition that s/he might not even know about that could make it so that even a lower dose of D3 could have negative effects. That is why there is range of D3 levels, not just a minimum. If that exact question had been asked of a doctor, the answer would have been as I gave it, not "you're all right", when you have no way of knowing whether it is all right or not - only a doctor can tell you that. When it comes to one's health, it is better to be safe than sorry.
No one is preaching paranoia here, just common sense. Unless you're one of the resident trolls (or devil, I don't follow this forum that closely to know it ), in which case I'd be happy to ignore you.
