A good reason not to add a uncessary filter in the air circuit, and it one more device to dampen pulses needed for data collection. Jimarchangle wrote:Airflow restriction is a concern, but an additional concern here is whether germs grow on the damp filter surface. If they grow on the upstream side, they might smell and/or restrict air flow. If they grown on the downstream side, they might become airborne and get to the user.Goofproof wrote:Also the way filters work, the more junk they trap the better they work. Dirty filters trap smaller particals than clean filters, the problem comes from air flow restriction with a dirty filter, starving the air flow. That's why when working on filter systems in the real world, matiance is done by restriction indicators, not hours. Jim

Re: Outlet bacteria filters
I have a separate HEPA filter with an Ultraviolet light inside that I bought at Wal Mart. Its air flow is pointed in the general direction of my Sleep Apnea, S9 VPAp from three feet away (to prevent a "Stacked Fan" Problem) and I try to wipe the dust off the bedside table.
"Stacked Fan" would help to cause fans to burn out.

Re: Outlet bacteria filters
I tried these filters a couple of years ago, after one or two days the humidity builds up on them and I wake up in the middle of the night with hardly any air flow through them. I tried alternating days with them to let them dry out but that didn't seem to help much, so I quit using them. still have a half of a case unused and still in their sealed bags.

Yes the more filtering is better, but to your detriment. This is the hose type, length, is in tune without the filter to process your control/ modulation.
With the filter it is like an illegal damper, therefore your machine is not able to function properly.
Bacteria is a big humbug, may be it filter what is wear and tear of internal machine dropout.
