Left my chamber at home

Post by tarzan » Thu Jun 19, 2014 8:23 am

I can live without my CPAP for a week vacation at my parents house, but was just wondering if any of you have gotten into this situation before and how you dealt with it. Took a week-long vacation from where I live in Phoenix, AZ. Morning of my flight I made sure to pack my CPAP device into it's carry case. Flew all the way to Pennsylvania, got to my parents' house, started opening my luggage, started putting my CPAP together, and realized I had left the water chamber drying in my bathroom sink in AZ. OOOPS! For now, I'm just sleeping without CPAP, and it's not that crucial for me to get a great night's sleep because I'm on vacation anyway, just lounging around my parents' house. Wondering how easy it would be to just book an appointment with a sleep doctor here to get an extra chamber? Or maybe someone reading this post happens to live in State College, Pa and has an extra one they can loan me? Mine is a HumidAir 3i, and the Pump is Escape S8.

You may want to consider detaching the humidifier module and just using the pump. Not as comfortable as humid air but it shouldn't be a big issue.

The humidity level in State College is showing 84% today. Do you really need the CPAP humidifier?

Even here in Chicago I don't use a humidifier except during the coldest heating months when the furnace dries out the room air.

You can likely get a chamber either locally or online. If on line, over night delivery is an option.
Either requires a copy of your prescription. Always travel with one.

Good suggestions, I hadn't really thought of that. Thank you.

If you try a night without humidifier, make sure the air conditioning is not blowing on the machine. (I know, you probably knew that.)

A few years back, I realized I didn't need my humidifier when it broke. A lot of folks probably don't know they also don't need it. You can get great cpap therapy without the fuss and muss of the humidifier. I know... some folks like the comfort, and some need it for their sinus condition...

Go without it and see what happens

I never use the humidifier...I get a better nights sleep without it and it is one less thing to carry and deal with

I'm the same, when I started out, I was like 'oh, everybody says I have to use humidifier...' somewhere along the way, i quit, and now the only time I use it is if I've got a bad head cold... (last time I used it was about 2 years ago... heh)

I lived in Phoenix too where you really need the humidifier but in other areas you might not need it as much.
