Can't import data from SleepyHead v0.9.5-Testing
Can't import data from SleepyHead v0.9.5-Testing
I'm brand new to the CPAP world, and just found out about this forum and the SleepyHead software, which I'm dying to try out.
I've downloaded what I think is the latest version (SleepyHead v0.9.5-Testing) and it seems to run fine. (LOVE the sheep!)
I took the SD card out of my CPAP machine and put it in my computer's card reader. I can look at files on the SD card, and have even copied them to a disk directory.
What I can't do is get SleepyHead to import the files. I understand this is a common issue, and I've been reading the suggestions given to others with this issue, but I can't get them to work. Here's what happens:
I put the SD card in my computer, which is running Windows XP Pro. A window pops up telling me about the new card. I *close* that window.
I go to SleepyHead and click "Import" on the "Navigation" sidebar (or I go through the menu: "/File" "/Import Data").
SleepyHead pops up a "Find Directory" window. I enter the drive letter ("F:" or "F:\") of the SD drive in the "File name:" field at the bottom of the window. I click the "Open" button on the window's right side.
This is the point where I expect SleepyHead to import my data. But it doesn't. The "Find Directory" window just brings up the top-level contents of the drive ("P-Series").
I can keep entering directory names ("P-Series", "<machine ID>", "p0") until I drill down to the data itself, at which point I see a bunch of files whose names start with lots of zeros, and whose file types are ".001", ".002", or ".005".
If I select one of the data files and then click "Open", I get a SleepyHead error message:
"Couldn't find any new Machine Data at the locations given"
Could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

Re: Can't import data from SleepyHead v0.9.5-Testing
Not sure what you are doing wrong except I don't manually enter the drive letter where the SD card sits. I click on the drive letter that shows up as my navigation choices under MyComputer and I let the computer put the path in rather than me do it manually. Less chance for error if the computer does it when it comes to my typing.
But how about we just use 0.9.6 testing version instead as it should auto detect the SD card for you and you don't have to do anything?
Still no installer in this version. If it works for you then you can just remove 0.9.5.

0.9.6 finds my SD card!!! Thanks so much. It's a thrill to see my sleep data in living color.
My next challenge is to see if I can get 0.9.6 to function for more than a minute or two. In particular, it crashes each time I move from one "daily" report to another day.
My two best guesses:
- 0.9.6 is still in the buggy stage
- 0.9.6 is *very* sensitive to low-memory conditions (I'm running an old computer). Though even when I reboot and load only SH, it still crashes.
Thanks again!

Eric,
Try opening/starting task manager and closeing all programs/process's that you dont need running... They are alot of things open in XP that take up the RAM...
Other than that, watch out for XP, there are MAJOR bugs in it now that microsoft is not and will not be fixxing or updating it.... April was the last XP update to ever go out...

Re: Can't import data from SleepyHead v0.9.5-Testing
Casey,
Thanks for the ideas. I have tried running SH with no other big processes, and my old machine (which was a powerhouse when I bought it 10 years ago) does have 2 gig of RAM. No luck. So I suspect there's something buggy with SH.
I know about XP (though I don't think the situation is that awful), and I have a brand new computer sitting unplugged on the floor next to me. It's a question of when I have the days to move everything from one computer to another. Time!

Re: Can't import data from SleepyHead v0.9.5-Testing
I am using SleepyHead 0.9.6 right now. No crashes at all for me no matter how much moving around I do in SH.
That's not a common bug with the crashes. I am using the exact same version that I gave to you. I haven't had any crashes and have been using it for 3 or 4 weeks now.
SleepyHead may have a problem with your Operating system though.
Will send you a private message in a bit. Let's see if EncoreBasic will play nice on your computer

Re: Can't import data from SleepyHead v0.9.5-Testing
I downloaded SleepyHead 0.9.6 to a brand new Windows 7 Pro system with 32 GB RAM and had no crashes. So, it's definitely related to my old computer, or its software. I'm a bit surprised, because I do run lots of programs on the old computer, without much trouble. Oh, well.
This is motivating me to try migrating my files and programs from my old computer to my new computer. It's such a daunting process. Pray for me!

Re: Can't import data from SleepyHead v0.9.5-Testing
Getting a lot closer to a pushing a decent release version..
These WinXP bugs, plus a ton of OpenGL 2.0 graphing glitches have been ironed out.
There are a ton of improvements waiting for you in the next version.. I'm just working through the rest of my list of major annoyances, and hopefully will have something ready soon. I just don't want another half solution out there.
Thanks for being patient with me :-}

there aren't any more bugs in xp now than there were a couple of months ago.... of course, it's always been swiss cheese as far as security goes.Cowboy Casey wrote: Other than that, watch out for XP, there are MAJOR bugs in it now that microsoft is not and will not be fixxing or updating it.... and, it's also not true that there won't be any more updates. microsoft is updating embedded xp until at least 2019.

Re: Can't import data from SleepyHead v0.9.5-Testing
I just got the new sleephead software and installed it. I go to download data and it wants to use Zeo cvs file types, my data card doesn't have any csv file types, my data files are all crc and edf files, Settings file types are all crc and TGT file types. What am I doing wrong?

Which SleepyHead version are you trying to use?need2sleep2 wrote:I just got the new sleephead software and installed it. Sounds like you are in the wrong import/download area to start with...the Zeo stuff is totally unrelated to the SD card from the machine.
crc and edf files are S9 files.
You need to be using the "import" function over on the right hand side of SH under the blue navigation window. Do you have it?
RobySue is doing a really good tutorial here....not sure how far she has got into things but look to see if it helps you out.

mine isn't as polished as hers and it is a bit out of date and until the next SH gets released I didn't want to redo everything

Re: Can't import data from SleepyHead v0.9.5-Testing
Thank you, yes there is a import icon on the right side of the screen. However it will only let me import from the card, not from a folder on my desktop. Not a big deal, just thought it was strange since my old program let me import from a folder. Thanks for the help.Pugsy wrote:Which SleepyHead version are you trying to use?need2sleep2 wrote:I just got the new sleephead software and installed it.
