recent data missing from S9 machine SD data card

Post by vicktn » Fri Jun 06, 2014 2:37 pm

Using my ResScan, I tried to download the data from the last 5 days and found it missing. My S9 machine suddenly stopped recording to SD data card, or somehow it got erased. I checked (via Windows Explorer) and the card still has over 80% storage capacity free and it still has the first ~3 weeks data stored on it but is missing the last 5 days as if it never got recorded. Anyone experienced this or have any ideas? (I was looking forward to checking my leak rate since I shaved my beard a few days ago!)

Did you have the SD card fully inserted in the machine for all 5 days?

Put the card back in the machine, wait a little, then remove it and try to upload again.
If it was an insertion problem, some new compliance data will be available but the rest of it is gone.

Leak statistics (as well as AHI and a couple of other statistics) are stored on the S9 machine...just the numbers though...no graphs.
So it goes onto a SD card if it is missing from the SD card for whatever reason.

Yep... fully inserted. The way the S9 machine card slot is made, if it is not fully inserted, it pops back out.

I unplugged the APAP machine, waited a while, and then plugged it back in to "reboot". (Found the suggestion on an old topic.) Pulled the card out, put in my computer, and this time summary data was successfully downloaded to ResScan. However detailed data was still missing--even the detailed data from the last use (last night). Strange.

Nope, not strange at all. Sometimes the S9 just like to be rebooted. The card must in the machine, and of course working correctly, in order to capture detail data. Detail data is written to the card in real time and if the machine can't write to the card, the data goes into the big bit bucket in the ether, never to be seen again!

Being able to read/write an SD card can be affected by dirt, etc. on the electrical contact strip. Touching these contacts leaves some skin oil and acids on the contacts and may increase the resistance to the point where the contact is not seen by the device that is trying to access the card. Some people are more prone to this problem than others. If you handle a lot of paper each day, these oils, etc. tend to get removed. Bank tellers notoriously don't leave fingerprints on paper that they handle (another arcane factoid for a previous life.)

Inserting and removing I a few times can sometime correct the situation as appears to be the case here.
