Hey Guys,
I am located in Columbus, Ohio and was wondering what companies others in my area use for their CPAP supplies.
I use a Quatro FX full face mask and was previously using a company called Dasco. I was actually quite happy with them as they would auto-ship me my supplies as often as insurance would cover them (something like every 3 months for cushion, 6 months for mask and hose and headgear, etc), however they stopped carrying my mask and the only two other full face masks they had did not work for me (one of them gave me a red ring on my face where the cushion sat and the other was extremely loud and was designed such that the air exhaust would be pointing at my wife in bed most of the time).
've since been on a search for a new supplier. I've been using CPAP Central at Polaris, but they do not have any automation and can't even accept orders via email so its sort of inconvenient to have to call and place the order over the phone and give them all my payment information every time.
Originally I had tried to switch to Columbus Medical Equipment, but evidently their CPAP department is a single lady and while I was first trying to order new supplies from them I could not get ahold of her for 2 weeks and eventually had to give up because my cushion and headgear were getting quite old. I'd rather not have to depend on a company for my supplies that only has a single person I can contact. What happens if they are sick? Go on vacation? Does that mean I can't order any new supplies until she gets back?
My Doctor at OSU recommended a few other places but I didn't have any luck with any of those either (Lincare never returned my messages, Apria doesn't take the OSU health insurance from NGS, and Ohio Health either didn't carry the Quatro FX or they didn't take my insurance either).
So what suppliers do you guys use? I was playing around with the idea of using an online supplier for my regular supplies and then CPAP Central at Polaris as just a backup in case I need to run and grab something quickly. If you use a online supplier, who are they? Do you like them? Do they have automated supply refills?
Thanks!
-Vince

Re: Columbus Ohio Suppliers
Personally, I don't think this is a big deal. I only order 1 or 2 times a year. Mask lasts over a year...hose lasts over a year. I may order filters or possibly a mask cushion during the year. I am happy to give my payment info each time I order...I DO NOT WANT my DME to have my Credit Card on file.Pougan wrote:Hey Guys,

Re: Columbus Ohio Suppliers
Perhaps, but they don't take insurance do they? And do they offer automated supply refills? Or do you have to manually place an order every time?Bill44133 wrote:The sponsor of this website is cpap.com very good prices and excellent service. I strongly suggest you use them
Well, the mask I probably don't need to replace often, but the cushion and filters need replaced relatively frequently. I think the information I have says 3 months on the cushion, filter should be swapped out every 2 weeks (though I usually go more like a month on a filter) and headgear every 6 months. I definitely need to do the headgear every 6 months because it gets stretched out and eventually I have the velcro straps as far as they will go and it starts to feel loose. The cushion definitely also starts to feel worn out after a while and 3 months seems just about right on that.LSAT wrote:Personally, I don't think this is a big deal. And I agree with you on not wanting my provider to have my CC on file. Dasco, my old supplier, would just bill me like a doctor's office and then I just send them the payment with my bank's online billpay.
So like you said its not a huge deal, but it was very convenient to have it just shipped as needed.
Thanks for your input guys!
Re: Columbus Ohio Suppliers
I to have dealt with DASCO when I worked in Columbus at OSU. Now I have a job in the Northwest part of the state and the DME is terrible here. Unfortunatly, I have to use the local DME for changes to my CPAP as my Doctor's office doesn't do them. But, I use DASCO for my supplies and love them as I don't have to remember when to order and they don't require a credit card when shipping. They notify you when you're due and if you don't need or want them at that time you can cancel the order or order only what you need. For the controlling personalities on this site that maybe too much control for them to give up, but I like the ease and nice return policy.
Re: Columbus Ohio Suppliers
Yea I did really like them, but since they no longer carry my mask and the only two full face masks they have are not going to work for me, I don't have much choice but to find someone else . I might consider getting everything but the mask from them, but the mask is really the most important piece as the filters and hose don't seem to wear very quickly.
