PAPhead going on hiking/camping trip this week
Will not have access to CPAP machine for first time in a year and a half. What should I do? I will be sleeping in a tent and I am afraid of what I may feel like after sleeping without it a few nights. Anyone have any thoughts or tips on having to go without their CPAP machine?

I tried camping (while river rafting) without my CPAP - this was about two years ago. I used ambien for two nights to compensate, besides the campgrounds were very noisy on the weekends, which is always a deal-breaker for me getting any natural sleep. The experience is not something I'd want to repeat but I got thru it okay and felt up to the rafting each day. NOTE: I am not a doctor, therefore you should talk to your doctor BEFORE you attempt going without your CPAP for any length of time, especially if you are going to use sleep meds. People can have different OSA/sleep dysfunction issues requiring different therapy strategies. It's your sleep doctor's job to sort that out.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

During an overnight power outage a few yrs ago, I slept face down for the night. My wife reported that she heard me score a couple of times, but there was no gasping like a full-on apnea. I woke up a time or two (normal for me). I wasn't any more sleepy than normal the next day.
You might try that at home to see if you can get by a night or two with no I'll effects.

The OSA patient died quietly in his sleep.
Unlike his passengers who died screaming as the car went over the cliff...

Lots of people here camp and use battery power (there are various options for that). There are kits available from Cpap.com that are also kept for power outages at home, and people here can help you more with what kind of batteries to use... no point in having fun if you're not doing it!
