Suggestions for a dry nose

Post by Starlette » Tue May 20, 2014 4:06 am

Good morning everyone.

Yesterday, I had a seizure enough to go to ER. Currently, I am on an oxygen tank.
I know I have some lubricant for my nose somewhere in the house. I cannot seem to find it.
I cannot send hubs to the store to find what I'm looking for. He would not know.
I need something to help with my very dry nose. All I have now is a a small bottle of lanolin.
I need to know what I can use around the house as a substitute.

Google "nose clearing exercise"
May any shills trolls sockpuppets or astroturfers at cpaptalk.com be like chaff before the wind!

Starlette,

I'm so sorry to hear about that seizure. I'm quite familiar with seizures, I am a fellow epilepsy sufferer. My best guess for 'around the house' stuff would be a do-it-yourself saline rinse using salt & distilled water. If you do not have a net I pot, use a clean squeeze bottle & rinse your nostrils.

For a nasal moisturizer the lanolin should help. If you are training about a nasal gel, could you describe it in writing & get the hub to ask the pharmacist to find it ?

I'm not sure if I've been much help. Get some rest, a seizure of that magnitude is physically draining, so take time to recover.

Jen

Hi Starlette,

I am also very sorry about your situation.

I have found Ayr Saline Nasal Gel very helpful. Hope you find something that works.

Sorry to hear this and I hope you quickly recover.

Thinking outside the box...

Send you husband to the store to pick up some KY jelly. If it is gentle enough for "down there" it should be OK for "up there..."

I cannot remember (I have some in the house), is it water based?

It's water based and as long as it's not one of the "Enhanced" versions, it will be fine. It's latex friendly so it won't hurt the mask or other things.

If you do not have a water bottle attached to your oxygen contact your supplies and request one , most likely you will need a doctors order for to pay for a water bottle my hubby complained of dry nose and after pushing for a water bottle for humidification to the oxygen he was more comfortable. Rest and enjoy a concerned hubby.
