Nasal Mask help

I am new to the forum so here's a quick summary. Just started using my CPAP machine and it came with a full face mask. I hate it. I like to read (with my glasses on) as I am preparing to slumber and the full mask, as you probably know, doesn't allow me to use glasses or view my kindle without looking out the side with one eye.

So, I am asking for help with a recommendation of a nasal mask that will work for glasses wearers and book lovers alike.

Hey Boert,

You could try the Swift FX Nano, or the AirFit N10. Respironics has a mask out called the Wisp that also is a nasal mask that you can use with glasses.
I am sure there are several others I have not thought of, but those are a few that come to mind.

My insurance won't cover another mask. Where can I get one without the prescription..

While the entire mask package itself requires a RX...the replacement parts do not require a RX so once you know which parts you need you can build your own mask without a RX.
Cpap.com is a good source.
EBay is also a good source if they happen to have sellers with the parts needed to build your own mask.

Do you want a nasal cushion mask or a nasal pillow mask? Or do you know?

How long have you been using CPAP? The first month you should be able to change masks out until you find the one that you like the best. It is a manufacturer's policy. Your DME may not have shared that with you.

You need a prescription to buy a whole mask, but there are other ways to obtain masks. Folks on this forum are very kind and generous.

Your doc needs to supply you a prescription, then you can buy a mask anywhere (including online) if you are paying out of pocket.

I assume you mean a nasal cushion that covers the nose.

Check out EBay for the Swift FX Nano nasal cushion mask. I think it is popular enough that you can build your own mask with it.
There's a sizing guide available for printing at cpap.com page for the Nano.

Sometimes buying the parts does cost a little more...but sometimes less if you shop smart on EBay. Sometimes 50% savings.
All depends on what you want and the seller's pricing.

The Swift FX Nano would be a good one to try because the headgear and short hose assembly can also be used with the Swift FX nasal pillows should you ever want to try those....then all you have to get is a nasal pillow and you might check with me first as I might have one you can have for the cost of postage.

So 3 pieces.

From my research I am leaning toward the nano...good to know it will fit for the pillows as well...
