Feeling tired again

Post by george.petrides.54 » Sat May 10, 2014 10:59 am

Started CPAP 1/9/2014. After a period of getting accustomed to it i slowing started feeling better. More energy NOT get up to go to bathroom ( use to go 3 times a night).
But recently feeling a but like before CPAP. Sleepy, hard to get going. However, still don't wake up for the bathroom so I'm confused.
It started after using pad a check. Can't imagine that has anything to do with it. I also turned off the ramp.
I can't check data because I have what you call a brick. Resmed S9 Escape. DEM will not upgrade me even though Medicare pays the same and doesn't specify a machine.
Any ideas why I feel the way I do?

What mask do you have? What are the chances you're mouth breathing when sleeping (now as opposed to previously) and losing therapy air that way?

Are you taking any meds? What type?

Have your sleep habits changed?

How about alcohol?

Have you had a general check-up lately, with labwork?

Lots of factors can make a difference.

Flomax, Herbal supplement, Niacin. Full face mask Quattro. No alcohol. No lab work since just before starting CPAP.

Seeing as you can't check your progress, maybe a call to your MD just to make sure other systems are ok would be an idea... What pressures are you set at? Sometimes those can be tweaked a little once you've been at things a while.

Sounds like too much CO2 in the mask. Tell your doc.

hn - That's really a ridiculous and simplistic 'reach'. There are very many other and far more likely reasons he's having trouble and bringing that erroneous stuff in here is not really responsible. Stay with that other thread though as it obviously has your attention.

I just have to add that chasing after grandchildren can do you in if you are not careful... They have far more energy.

Not just grandchildren! Higher energy levels as a result of effective treatment of apnea can result in increased energy expenditure in many areas of daily life, all of which result in feeling tired. However, the specific treatment recommendations would have to come from the medical team, if possible.

I went through that dropped caffeine and noticed a big change. Still have the occasional tired morning. Don't we all. Our disease is a strange one and the human body even stranger . Just do the best you can for yourself . I also dropped carbs dropped 20 lbs and that helped. It is always difficult to do the right thing for ourselves all the time . Just try to be careful most of the time think how crappy you used to feel before Cpap and it makes it sell worth while. Best of lyck
