why does 1 part of a mask get removed from ebay?

Post by zoocrewphoto » Sat May 10, 2014 12:01 am

I posted 3 separate ads for 3 parts of one mask. I don't even have the full mask. Two parts stay up just fine, and the one piece has been shut down twice. When I put it back up, I stated in big print that it is only a small part of a mask, does not include anything.

Any idea why it keeps getting pulled? The cushion and pillows are fine, but the hard frame can't be listed?

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

I'm guessing because that part can't be sold without a prescription. It's probably a gray area, and Ebay wants to avoid getting into legal trouble. Contact them?

It's the EBAY police not understanding that the hard frame can be a separate item and thus exempt from the RX requirement.
For some reason they are associating it only with the complete mask and they don't believe you when you say it is just a "replacement part" and thus exempt from RX requirement.

Any suggestions for what I can call it so that it doesn't come across as a whole mask. I even put "just a part, not complete" in the subject line and description. Maybe plastic piece for x mask?

I tried to contact them, but I can't find any way to email them, and I really don't want to get up early before work just to call them during business hours.

Maybe you could call it a "frame component-not assembled)

You can buy headgear and cushions on line without a prescription. The frame is considered the mask by the FDA.

You need a prescription for the frame. So eBay won't let them be sold.

But people can order a frame and headgear separately at the same time and get them without a prescription.

Zoo,

I would call it 'plastic part for X mask' as you said earlier. I would also post on someone else's EBay account if possible. Maybe your mom's or a friend? EBay has already 'flagged' your account so they will see most attempts to repost.

I've run afoul of EBay when selling jewelry. For some reason, still unknown to me as to why 'druzy cuts' are not allowed to be sold. I found hundreds for sale, yet they pull my listing every time I attempted to repost with new wording. I posted on my SIL's account & sold it with no further problems.

Headgear or frame doesn't require a RX....just check cpap.com for that part as a replacement part and there is no "RX required" notice.

The frame is often sold all by itself without RX.
Example...the Mirage Quattro without headgear..no RX required flag.

Look at other listings for same mask part if there are any that are being shown and try their wording.
Also note that a lot of people add the notation "this is a replacement part only and doesn't require RX" within their listing description. Other than that I don't know what to try to make them happy. I have bought tons of stuff like that..headgear, frames, etc but I have never sold anything.
