My new S9 was upside down this morning!

Post by Country4ever » Tue May 06, 2014 5:47 am

I have no idea how this happened. Maybe I did something funky with it during the night. I'm so glad that it didn't ruin the unit. Appears to only be water in the hose and the humidifier box (under the chamber). I reached down in the dark this morning to turn it off and nothing felt familiar. I turned the light on and it was upside down, but still working.
Seems to be okay. Whewww............

Merely a speculation. Perhaps during the night a hose or something got entangled with you and when you moved you flipped it.

Perhaps normal motions in your sleep are moving it.

Perhaps you do something in your sleep like sit up or something.

If it happens again I would see if you could secure it in place and see what happens. Just a thought.

Some "athletic" sleepers use Velcro, bungees, straps, or set it in a drawer.

Thanks!
I had considered that maybe I just accidentally pulled on the hose, but it was weird that it was completely flipped over. I have it on the floor, on top of one of those plant stands on wheels......you'd think it would have come off that stand, rather than just upside down on the stand. Oh well........one of life's many mysteries. haha

I'm really into bungee cords........so that sounds like a great idea!
Thanks!

You could use the ever popular duct tape or maybe a big rock......"not"

I find a good hose hanger helps in numerous ways

Make sure your hose is long enough.

I tie my machine to a heavy table with velcro construction strapping. Had to do this after I pulled it off the table three times! Luckily, no damage to the machine.

In addition to the recommendations already provided, you can purchase clips that go around your hose with Velcro and then you clip the hose to your bed sheets. So, if you accidentally pull on the hose in your sleep, the clips protect your machine from being pulled.

I'm positive these have saved me from pulling my machine off my nightstand in the middle of the night. I go a little overboard just to be safe as I utilize three clips at once.

Our host, CPAP.com, carries these clips.

Take care,

Thanks everyone.
If this had happened with my Resmed S8, I'm sure it would have been a goner. The S9 seems to be much better protected against spills.

I think it was actually the "aliens" that seem to lurk around this board from time to time - they actually paid a visit if the machine was turned over in its stand!

Keep this in mind. If you ever turn the machine over like this, think before you pick it up. Pick it up with the blower side up. i.e. before you pick anything up, tilt it such that any water between the blower and humidifier will drain away from the blower unit.

It's a good idea to route your hose such that you can't pull the machine off the table with the hose. One way to do this is some sort of clip that holds the hose.

I use double the hose partly for this reason.
