Resmed S-9 SD card replacement

Post by 2bitwise » Tue Apr 29, 2014 6:32 pm

I want to get additional SD cards as spares for my Resmed S-9. I think the original is 1gb, which are obsolete. I can download from the original card to Rescan on my desktop using the built in MMC/SD slot. I just bought PNY 2gb cards, but my computer doesn't see them and kind of hangs while it tries. On the back on the cards is a surprise-SDHC 4gb in tiny print. SDHC is a newer type that requires fairly new computers to be compatible. Mine isn't, but is running Win 7. My question is-what is a good replacement SD card for the old original, and where can I get one?

Plain Sandisk SD cards from Walmart 2 or 4 GB will work just fine.

They were on sale for really cheap at Walgreens last week.

$20 is a ridiculous price...I have bought some 2gb on e-bay for $5.

2 2g scan disk at Walmart 11.88

2 4g scan disk at Walmart 14.88. No particular sale but a price baseline for you.

Here is the official response from the manufacturer: http://www.resmed.com/au/service_and_su ... c=patients

Of course I ignored the recommendations and got a SanDisk 4GB Class 4 SDHC Card from BestBuy for $8.00. It loads really, really fast on the S9 compared to the original card. S9 firmware version SX474-0602 partitions the disk correctly and assigns all the extra space to the data partition. PC multimedia slot also recognizes the card and everything works flawlessly with SleepyHead and ResMed software.

I tried a cheap Chinese 4G class 2 card from eBay and the S9 would recognize it, format, log correctly but would re-format whenever the card was removed and then re-inserted.

I paid $6 for two at Walgreens last week. Just down the street from my house by the cameras. They are usually much more but were on sale.

Has anyone ever been successful in having a DME give or sell them a "genuine" ResMed SD card?

I successfully use a Class 10 (higher speed) SDHC card in my S9 AutoSet.

I need an SD card for another purpose & would like to revert to a ResMed supplied SD card for the S9 AutoSet & use the Class 10 SDHC for that other purpose. I think their current cards are now 2 GB whereas they used to be only 1 GB. I guess even ResMed is having a problem finding a supply of 1 GB cards.

Wish I had a Walgreens close by but WalMart is closer for me and even then it is a 22 mile one way trip...but I need to go over to that neighborhood today to pick up a special order part for my Cub Cadet so maybe this time I won't forget to look at the SD cards. I sort of need a spare as I lost one not long ago.

Closest Walgreens to me would eat up the savings in cost of gas for my truck.

My HP computer is too old to be SDHC compatible. You can get a reader that plugs into a USB port that should work. I found a standard 2gb SD card at Staples for $9.00 (not sdhc) that they are shipping to me. I will try it out. Time is moving on my perfectly working older hardware. I just went from XP to Win 7, but it is different in some areas are have yet to figure out. Probably in a couple of years I'll have buy a new one because things have changed too much.

My Dell XP Professional desktop is "ANCIENT" and it does well with a Class 10 SDHC card.
