Respironics DS460 vs Resmed S9
Hey All,
Have some questions. New to Cpap, my AHI in my home study was around 10. They are recommending either the Respironics DS460 or the
Resmed S9. What are the pros and cons of each? They actually recommended I buy elsewhere, my insurance covers about 50%. I was
also wondering about buying used. Is there an online store you guys recommend? I work in technology so a device that can record data
I could review would be nice.

Our hosts cpap.com is where many people buy.
The two are neck to neck with sightly different algorithms. As far as Resmed is concerned you don't want anything that says "Escape" = no data.

How does one know whether to go Autoset vs Elite? Does the autoset work with everyone?

I think you should get the autoset. An autoset will allow you to operate the machine in the autoset mode or straight cpap mode. The Elite will only operate in the cpap mode (straight air).

My insurance covers 50% but the prices they quoted are a ton higher than cpap.com, am I better off just not using my insurance or will
Kaiser allow me to file a claim for half? Wouldn't buying from cpap.com be unsupported?

Autoset will do all the Elite does, and then some.
You can even avoid looking at the sleep report if you want, and pretend it's an Escape.
But why??????

At the ins rate of 50% you will probably be better off with cpap.com. You can ask your insurance if they will reimburse you for part if you buy elsewhere, but I suspect the answer will be no.peacemaker wrote:My insurance covers 50% but the prices they quoted are a ton higher than cpap.com, am I better off just not using my insurance or will

Re: Respironics DS460 vs Resmed S9
First they need to be a little more specific on the ResMed machine. The S9's are all the way from bricks to full data auto machines.
The actual breakdown machine to machine, S9 to System One 60 Series is;
Resmed S9 Escape = Respironics Remstar Plus (DS260TS)
Resmed S9 Elite = Respironics System One 60 Series Pro (DS460TS)
Resmed S9 AutoSet = Respironics System One 60 Series Auto (DS560TS)
Also the Pro (DS460TS) has 30 days of Auto-trial where it will let you run in auto titrating mode for 30 days and that can be reset 5 times but I don't think the S9 Elite has that option. Otherwise they're pretty much equal machines.
I'd get no less than the DS460TS or the S9 Elite, and if given the choice, I'd get either the DS560TS or the S9 AutoSet.
