S9 dishwasher-safe humidifier tank in the dishwasher...
Washed my S9 dishwasher-safe humidifier tank in the dishwasher, and now the top and the bottom don't fit together! Is there a trick to this, or is the "dishwasher-safe" label not to be taken literally?
Also got to find out I don't have a humidifier tank back-up...oops!

Some of the plastic parts are not dishwasher safe. (I don't recall which are what)
While reassembling, pull the plastic collar all the way up so the clips and tabs match.

Thanks, Chunkyfrog.
Too late for me - but for everyone else - the i5 dishwasher safe humidifier tub for the S9 series means dishwasher safe for the bottom ONLY! The plastic top shrinks!
I thought it seemed too easy....

I've washed all the parts several times with no problems. I put them in the top rack and we don't use the "sanitize" option.
And yes, the collar slips and has to be slid up the bottom to fit.

Exactly.
Our dishwasher is normally set for extra heat during the wash and rinse cycles, and extra heat and time during dry.
When washing my humidifier in the dishwasher (top rack), all those extras are set to off.
And it comes out as soon as the completed cycle "ding" goes off. Otherwise it would continue to bake in there.
I then rinse it off with hot water under the faucet using the spray feature to get rid of any remaining soap residue.
If you have allergies, use a free and clear dishwasher soap like 7th Gen.

The plastic collar around the tank that has the snaps on it has just slid down.
Pull that collar as far up as you can all the way around the tank.
The top will now accept the snaps.

IMHO, top rack and heat off is essential with any plastic in the DW.

I never put mine in the DW. How dirty is it??? The collar slips down - but hand washing should be all you need.

Re: S9 dishwasher-safe humidifier tank in the dishwasher...
I used to put BOTH my "Dishwasher Safe" tank AND the "Non Dishwasher Safe" tank in the dishwasher. My non Dishwasher Safe tank was the newer one that does come apart.
And I used the hottest "Sani" Wash Cycle but withOUT the drying cycle.
And I put everything on only the top shelf to keep it as far away from the heating element as possible.
Did that for over 2 years with no problems whatsoever.
Then, one day, I washed both of my Dishwasher Safe Tanks in the same cycle.
When I took them out & handled them, some of the hard plastic tabs that snap into that collar just broke off in my hand.
I had to immediately buy 2 new tanks on my dime since I had used my tank purchase on getting a new water tank for my old Respironics brick that I use as a backup to my 2 ResMed AutoSets & to travel.
I have not put my replacement tanks in the dishwasher at all, but I am thinking of starting to do that again. If I do, I would skip the hottest Sani cycle.
But then, getting over 2 years on the tanks is about as much as one can hope for anyway.
Yes, I do waste more water by putting the tanks in the dishwasher - since you have to wash ONLY them. But, I was washing them only every 2 weeks at the most & sometimes less often.
Plus, I did save time by putting them in the dishwasher as opposed to hand washing them. And even though I am approx 95% retired, I still have better things to do with my time.

Re: S9 dishwasher-safe humidifier tank in the dishwasher...
If you find that the collar doesn't seem to want to move, just dunk the whole thing in hot water. When it's hot and wet, it slips up and down the tank easily. When it's cold and dry, it is hard to move without it feeling like it will break.
