I believe the manufacturer has an assistance program.
Otherwise, is there nothing where you live?

Were you diagnosed with diabetes ? I thought if that was the case almost all insurance plans paid for
diabetic testing supplies.

Walmart Relion meters have inexpensive strips, and you get 10 free with the meter, I believe.

That seems strange to me. So, I'm wondering "Why not?". Do you use insulin or take medications of some kind?
If you're using "diet and exercise" to control it, I could see that as a possibility, but I would think the doctor could write you an Rx for it and you could get them WITH insurance coverage.

But, I do agree with Janknitz about the Walmart ReliOn meters and strips. I used them for years because my GP/PCP was a jerk about office visits and writing prescriptions.......and I figured out I could buy lots of ReliOn meters and strips for what the office visits would cost.......so, that's what I did till I got a different doctor in 2011.
With insurance coverage, I've used Accu-Chek Aviva and Bayer Contour/USB meters and strips.

Although most health insurance plans pay for the strips, some have high copays. My old carrier, HealthNet, had a copay of $50.00 and did not cover hypodermics. That can get pretty expensive especially if you need to take other meds. Obamacare has caused many employers to save money by increasing deductibles and copays for many items such as this. If Arizona has expanded Medicaid, I would try for that if you think you may be eligible. Your supplies would be covered 100% but you would need to use whatever the "preferred" meter and strips are. I used the walmart Relion brand when I could not afford to buy them even with insurance!

The test strips are like disposable razor blades. If you are on a budget, check the price of the strips before you buy a meter as the price per strip can very by a factor of 10 times. As the meters are often on sale for very low prices, check which has the lowest price strips and then wait for that machine to go on sale. Walmart says trips run from $.35 each to over $1.00 each and the Accucheck is not on the low end of that price point.

That is very strange; your insurance will pay for your "sugar meter" but not for your supplies? The meters themselves have really come down in price; the lancet device which comes with all machines are also cheap; the lancets that go inside the devices are also cheap; the test strips on the other hand depending on which brand that you have can be pricey. I have a Bayer Contour meter and once a year I contact Bayer Pharmaceuticals and they will ship me a new set of batteries for my meter at no charge; a new lancet device also at no charge but I have to ship my old lancet device back to Bayer; they include a prepaid mailing label and envelope to return my old lancet device in but they do not ship out any free test strips.

I also use the Reli on meter and strips, Co pay on my strips is about $35. So I figuare I'm still saving a buck or two.

My cat is diabetic and I buy his strips on eBay. I've also heard good things about the Relion meter like others have said. I think I'm the only one who had a bad meter from them.

Since I am on Medicare, the negotiated price is the same regardless of what brand I use.
This says to me that the inflated price of the brand names has little justification.
Consumer Reports compared the accuracy of various brands--an interesting article.
If you can't read it online, your public library should be able to access it.

I recently ordered my strips online from this vendor at a very good price: diabetessupplies4less.com. I use the True result meter, and 50 strips usually cost about $49, but I got them for $10.99 on this site. $0.22 each instead of $1 each! They were shipped quickly, no hassles, and shipping was only a few dollars.

There's a co-pay, and if you have a yearly prescription deductible you have to meet that before the co-pay even kicks in.

In my case annual deductible = $500, co-pay after deductible is met = $35.00

Not cheap by any measure.

You only appear on this forum when you want something, & crying poor, last time you wanted & recieved a VPAP Adapt

I think you are taking advantage of peoples generosity

I think charity begins at home, try asking your family
