A lot of people have some trouble sleeping well (if much at all) in study labs, so do take e.g. one Ambien before bed, and it's not that you need to be on meds otherwise, for the test, it's not uncommon at all... being wired up to machines in a strange bed, with funny noises and lights around is not easy! Of course do not use benzos or other heavy meds at the time, just something (if you feel the need - are normally prone to insomnia, etc.) to let you drift off.

There are several different models of S9 machines.

S9 Escape....no useful data beyond how many hours you use it and you have a clock to tell you that. Uses the older based algorithm. Fixed single pressure.
S9 Escape Auto...offers only a generic AHI piece of data and uses the older based algorithm. It does offer auto adjusting pressure mode but still doesn't use the latest algorithm for superior central detection.
I wouldn't want either of these 2 above.

S9 Elite...full data cpap machine..fixed single pressure...this is a good machine to have.
S9 AutoSet..full data cpap machine with 2 modes of operation available...like 2 machines in one...this is a good machine to have.

There are also VPAP S9 models...but it is unlikely you would be using one of those unless you had really high pressure needs or issues with a large number of central apneas.

Model #'s are under the machine - just make sure your humidifier's empty before you turn it over!

That's no lie! When I went in for my sleep study I could hear the guy next to me snoring the whole time. I just remember thinking to myself, "Don't they know we snore when we sleep? Couldn't they have made these walls a little thicker than a sheet of PAPER!"
