I was diagnosed with "mild" SA almost two years ago (9) took me over a year to get below ahi of 5!

Third sleep study with a different Dr, he noticed I have over 30 alpha wave arousals per hour! Basically for some unknown reason my brain "turns on" which makes it difficult to get any quality of sleep! Back in 1995 I was assaulted and knocked unconscious by some muggers ... Have had sleep problems ever since, my current gp Dr says it is just something I have to live with ... I have gone to so many Dr's who just keep putting me off ... They sure like for me to come in and see them for 10 minutes, and get their fee, but don't seem to actually care of solve difficult problems!

Most drugs are not an option, as I'm a long distance truck driver ... I pass my DOT physical every time, I even took a daytime "sleep study" to see if I would fall asleep in the daytime if I was sitting unstimulated in a dark room ... Passed that!

I just recently started taking lots of vit D3 (5000 on days I remember, 5 times a week) how long does it take to see results?

I also had started taking a magnesium/zinc/vit d supplement about 6 months ago ... I have not noticed any great change ...

I am someone that has the symptoms of thyroid but the test says I am ok. I found a doc who would give me some meds but I think the dose is so low it does not do much. I see my doctor again soon and I will discuss all this.

Being on the road for most of the day, you should get plenty of vitamin D just from your sun exposure. I would just save the D3 pills for days that you don't get any direct sunlight exposure.

There's conflicting evidence regarding how much of the supplements we take is actually bio-available, but vitamin D3 may be one of the exceptions. Regardless, if your body can make it for free, do that instead.

This is how much sun exposure you need per day (I've also added a link to the site I got it from):

10-45 minutes full sun (without burning) for light skin
2-2.5 hours full sun for dark skin

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not trying to tell everyone to stop taking oral vitamin D3 (just in case someone missed my point), but you are a long-haul driver. You should be able to get plenty of it from the sun.

Lisa, you should look into Stop the Thyroid Madness. For many people, levothyroxine is not enough. And you may be on too low a dose of Armour. You should go by FT4 and FT3, not TSH.

Yes, I see a lot of sun, but mostly just my left arm ... Not sure what or if the tint screens out ...

I too have had multiple tests for thyroid ... (My mom had thyroid problems) I got a Dr in Mexico to get me some thyroid medication, and said it couldn't hurt, and may help ... He also said I should see results in 2-3 days, started out with 25 mg, after 4 days, no change, doubled it to 50 mg, three days still nothing, doubled to 100 mg, then 150 mg, and 200 mg, still nothing ...

Also tested for Lymes Disease ... Negative.
