humidifier wster

I use the water for the humidifier for one night only. Does anyone use it for more than that?

Of course. Why waste it?
It's distilled water, isn't it?

I never dump it out! I use Distilled water and I only top it off when needed.

I dump mine daily so I can wash my reservoir and allow it to dry. Over time bacteria can build up and do you want to breathe in bacteria?

I top mine off and usually wash the reservoir about once a week. Sometimes I can go 3 nights without adding any water, but it's getting the time of year that I'll quit using humidification at all where I live.

My DME supplier told me to do dump out the water every day, to wash the reservoir with soap & water each day, then air dry. He said that over time, I will learn how much I distilled water I need each night, and to only put in that amount, so I'm not wasting it.

I did that for about a week or so.

Now I just add more as needed, which is usually every 2-3 days or so. I still wash my reservoir w/soap and water, but now I just do that once per week, not every day.

I use my humidifier every night, and refill it to the fill line each morning with Wal-Mart distilled water. Every two weeks, I open the water chamber and wash it thoroughly with cotton tipped brush and Pine-Sol solution. Then I rinse it freely with tap water and then slosh some distilled water to remove the residual drops of tap water. In between cleaning dates I only top it off. I've been following this routine for 8 years now with absolutely no ill effects.
My DeVilbiss Intellipap has an easily removed and easily opened shell type water chamber.

I wash mine out every day, using a scent free, extra gentle dish soap -

(for a while I was not washing it every day, but then realized there is growth going on-
organisms we can't see, and if you wait long enough you can see them)

So, if you don't mind breathing in organisms/bacteria, go ahead and wash out your humidifier
every once in a while . . .
