OK I don't want to get too soap opera here, but I just have to say how great this forum is. I've only been here for a little while, and I tend to be kind of reserved, so I don't know you all very well yet, but every time I come here (which has been daily lately) and read, I am just so pleased with how helpful and nice everyone here is. When I was first diagnosed I felt like a complete freak and was pretty depressed. You guys have all helped me so much not to feel alone and like a big weirdo. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Minerva

I agree with how great this forum is. I love how friendly and personnal every one are. I enjoy also "visiting" daily even though I do not have much to say.

Hi minerva,

Yeah. I know what you mean.

Kind of like a breath of fresh air, don't you think? Except for the weirdos!

Hey, loosen up, don't be so reserved - let your hair hang down!! I would, if I had any.

Minerva~

This wearing of the mask thing brings me back to middle school/early high school days as far as gawkiness, though its not to far a stretch for me anyways! I think I feel more attractive wearing a nasal mask than I did being tall, lanky, glasses and braces in 9th grade!!

At any rate, I think the benefits of being rested make us look so much better than black circles and bags under our eyes.

Suzy

Couldn't agree more Minerva, nice sentiments.
I too was a little reserved (well, I am English!) and got value from reading in the forum before plucking up the courage to contribute.
Remembering the value I got from reading, I really would encourage the reserved readers out there to share their experiences here. If anything you say helps even one person towards successful treatment, then it's been worth it.

Minerva,
I agree totally, I am new also (1 week with my APAP) and coming here and reading such helpful information has been so comforting! I can't imagine starting this without all this help.

Thanks to this forum, I am very confident in asking for what I now know insurance has to pay for.
This Board has more cutting edge information than the other Boards. The posters here are much more informed.
Also, the fact that one does not have to register makes this a popular place to post. The forums where you must give your email will turn off people who work for Resmed or F&P or some other company from giving us the real goods. If your email has a work address, you can get into big trouble posting. If you notice, the other forums seem to be shrinking down in posts wile this one is gaining in popularity. I also like the personality of most of the visitors here. These are people I would like on the outside, so to speak.

I agree! My doc & sleep tech were very impressed with my knowledge and ability to discuss my results at my F/U visit. I have been able to manage numerous problems with my DME... this place is a lifesaver!

There is nothing wrong with being a weirdo.I actually enjoy being one because I am an artist.
CPAP definitely has other worse medical conditions beat hands down.
Think about it...would you rather have to use CPAP for the rest of your life or have a colostomy bag?
See,like I said...it isn't that bad after all!

Thanks Rapunzel111, for that wonderful visual. Just what I needed before heading off to work.
