Night sweats even AHI=0.5
Night sweats even AHI=0.5
I am a sleep apnea patient for 10 years with beginning AHI of 60. The cpap treatment is highly effective to reduce AHI from 60 to 0.5 but I still have night sweats. Don't know why but the symptom is better if I raise the cpap pressure from 12 to 14, I can feel warm or normal after waking up. So I think the night sweats come from obstructive apnea even machine detects nothing?

I've never heard of this issue discussed here... the sweats having anything to do with OSA, but how does raising your pressure from a 12 to 14 affect your numbers (AHI, apnea events)? During the day, do you feel different with the two pressures? If you don't see any changes... keep the pressure at 14.

Night sweats indeed do come from untreated OSA, but can also be caused by other things.danielqk wrote:I am a sleep apnea patient for 10 years with beginning AHI of 60. Do you have Diabetes? If your blood sugar is going low or high, that can cause it, too.
I presume other medications can have an affect, but don't know which ones off the top of my head.
Are you using software to SEE what's going on during the night? If not, I would strongly suggest using it.
Just changing pressures without actually knowing why is irresponsible.

Also if you are using software, and your leak level isn't under control, the software can report incorrect data.... If you machine is a APAP, why are you having to set a pressure, on APAP I would use a 3cm range or 2cm range, based on what you are using now. Also, I do have diabetes, I tend to wake up if I drop under 80, that's a good thing.
Use data to optimize your xPAP treatment!

Have you ever been exposed to TB, which causes night sweats?

Since you don't have your gender listed and if your a female you could be going into menopause. My wife had night sweats when she went through menopause. If your a male disregard this.

Night sweats can be a symptom of other diseases. If you can, see your Dr. Not everything is related to sleep apnea.

Time of night?I still have night sweats.
How often?
How much do you sweat? Bed clothes soaked?
What is your bedroom environment?
The few apneas that you have, how long are they?
