For years prior to getting my CPAP (which was one week ago today) I've worn Breathe-Rite nasal strips to bed. They always seemed to help some, but not enough.

One night last week, on maybe the 3rd or 4th night with the CPAP, just by sheer force of habit I put a Breathe-Rite on before heading to bed, then wore my mask over it. For me it made a VERY substantial difference, making me feel like I was getting air much more readily and even more gently. Don't know what sense it makes, but that's how it went.
I wonder if a 'nasal pillow' mask would work better for me than the Mirage. Is that the kind that actually goes into your nostrils?

Re: Breathe-Rite under mask. Helps me!
The nasal pillow mask doesn't really go into the nostrils all that far. So I don't know if the pillow inner cones would do what you want but the more direct pressure might help.
You may be thinking of the nasal prong mask. That sucker goes up in the nose. Fit has to be just perfect when under pressure though. If too small it will leak and if too big it hurts. I tried it once. I was an in between size. This is the one I tried.
