I Do Want Surgery...Who Or Where are the Best Dr,s Around?

My tonsils were removed when I was 14 and I still have a fairly large soft palate. At home I use an Auto-Cpap machine...Does any one know the name or names of the best Dr.s for this surgery? Where and how much it will cost...I am tired of my CPAP machine. I would like some freedom...please.

I understand your need for freedom, think we all do... Unfortunately the results of surgery are not only temporary, but most likely will cause MORE complications later. Do a LOT of research and ask a lot of questions about long term efficacy (long term results) you will not be very happy with the answers...

You will find that most people who get the surgery still require a cpap afterwards just at a lower pressure.

My sleep doctor is actually a surgeon at Stanford and one-time co-director of the sleep clinic there. He has published many papers on surgery related to sleep apnea. Even he advises people to avoid surgery unless absolutely necessary. Throat surgery is very painful requiring at least ten days of a liquid diet.

Somnoplasty is better. This is where radio waves are used to shrink the tongue or tissues inside the nose. I just had this a week ago, but even this can cause problems.

Avoid surgery if at all possible. Try somnoplasty if you must.
