I'll be going to Punta Cana, DR later this month with my CPAP machine. Can anyone tell me if I need to bring a special plug or adapter to interface with? I do understand that the standard voltage is 110 like in the states just not sure of the plug type.
Thanks in advance.
Traveling to DR with CPAP
Re: Traveling to DR with CPAP
I've been to Punta Cana twice ... it's beautiful! The resorts will have standard plugs like you'll find in the US. No special equipment required.
Some things to keep in mind though, PC is very humid, so you'll probably need to adjust your humidifier level (or not use it at all). If you do use your humidifier, use only bottled water, NEVER out of the tap. The resorts will say their drinking water (at the restaurants, bars, etc) is safe, but don't use your room's tap water, even to clean your tank. The room's tap water is OK for showering but it's much safer to use bottled water to drink, brush your teeth, etc.

Shortcake- Thanks for the information. Very helpful and one less thing to think about. I'll use bottled water and turn down the humidifier in the machine also.

Re: Traveling to DR with CPAP
I've spent some time in different parts of the Caribbean and most of the plugs in the larger resorts were to US standards. BTW, I lived on Nevis for three months... a beautiful island. What did vary were power dropouts and even complete power loss, often in the night - I don't even want to think about power surges (which can damage CPAP machines). Anyway they often go hand in hand with older island infrastructure struggling to keep up with modern demands. To be on the safe side I recommend you invest in the best small surge protector you can find and take it along, weight be damned. Nobody cares if their hair dryer dies but a CPAP machine is a whole different ballgame.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
