I am on my second night with the Resmed S8 Vantage in the Auto setting, and I have a couple of questions about the nightly data it provides on the LCD screen.
I know that the AI and AHI are hourly averages correct?
What about the pressure? Is that an hourly average, or the maximum pressure used an any time during the night, or maybe an average of the hourly maximum pressures used?
I am coming off a Respironics CPAP with a setting of 14 and the first two nights, my pressures were 9.1 and 10.2 which is startling to me and this is why I ask what it means.

Data
AHI, AI and HI are all indices of the number of events per hour that you are experiencing on average.
The pressure reading is the 95% pressure, which is the pressure that the S8 is operating at or below 95% of the night.
The difference in pressure that you note between your CPAP and the S8 is the result of AutoSet technology (APAP). For 95% of the night, your S8 is operating at 9 or 10 cmH2O, rather than the 14 cmH2O that your Remstar Plus or Pro was blowing.
Hope this helps.

Pressures
Well, it is possible that you're going down to 7, but that would be within the 95% pressure "block". Your S8 may be making occasional excursions up to 14 during the 5% block. That would be revealed by downloading to your SmartCard and looking at the plots of time-v-pressure that AutoScan v5.7 would show.
