Encore Viewer vs Encore Basic

Post by Popsnores » Mon Mar 03, 2014 8:30 am

Can anyone tell me what advantage I would get from using Encore Basic over Encore Viewer? Please PM me with site to download Basic. Thanks!

Absolutely zero advantage. Someone will post a link to basic and it will work great for you.

Anyone else wondering or reading this thread...when requesting software we need to know what operating system is on your computer.
EncoreBasic won't install on Windows 8.xxx and neither will EncoreViewer

EncoreBasic can be put on a Windows 8.xxx computer so that it will run but we have to do it via a backdoor approach because of the issue with the installer...if we bypass the installer it will work fine but we have to give you something else instead of a link for download and install. It saves us both time if we can give you the right stuff to start with.

All Encore products are for Windows...no Mac versions available. If you have a Mac you have to setup some sort of Windows environment on the Mac to use any Encore product.

SleepyHead will work on pretty much all the PR S1 machines except the 960 and it doesn't care about which Windows version you are using.

There is a SleepyHead Mac version but if you have a 60 series machine you will need the Mac patch or install the unstable build which includes the patch file.
All of this is explained in my software tutorial...links in my signature line.

Thanks. I'm running Windows 7 now, so should have no problems. What capabilities does Basic have that Viewer does not?

Pugsy, thanks for the PM!

Basic has the capability to alter settings on the machine via the software so that a person doesn't have to go to the clinical setup menu but to be honest...it's quicker and easier to just do any changes at the machine level and not use the software.
Viewer doesn't have that capability.

I haven't had a chance to use Viewer 2.1...so I don't know if it offers wave form flow rate graphs..which Basic does.
The prior Viewer version did not offer wave form that I know.
If Viewer 2.1 offers wave form....there is nothing that Basic offers on the reports themselves that Viewer doesn't offer.
Main difference the $99 for Viewer 2.1. Basic is free.
If you have Viewer 2.1 working and you have wave form graphs then there is no real need to install Basic as the reports are identical.
BTW...that's the way it is even with Pro..there is nothing to gain but headaches by using Pro as it can be a PITA to install and use. PR S1 model 960 users..they have no choice but to use Pro though because nothing else will work with that model machine.
