How long can you use a mask before changing to a new one?

Your question is too vague to answer properly. Are you asking how often an insurer will pay for a replacement? Are you asking how long people can generally use a mask of a certain type before it is worn out enough to be ineffective?

The answers to either of these types of questions will vary dependent on (a) your insurer, (b) the type of mask you use, (c) if the type of mask you use works for you even if it is brand new, (d), how hard your own skin oils are on your mask and how fast the mask deteriorates from your own personal situation.

My mask was fine for 8 months, and I had it replaced then even though my insurer would pay for a replacement every 3 months if I asked for that. But that's just me and my particular mask and the insurance rules of my insurance policy.

Different people's faces... different peoples masks. I can go about 3 months, but some folks can go a whole year. Trust me.... everyone is different.

My replacement schedule:
Cushions and pillows get replaced once a month.
I wash or replace headgear when it looks nasty.
Hard frames last until they break (fingers crossed)--usually indefinitely?
Silicone Wisp frame stays nice about 6 months, then the headgear slots get a little too loose.
Everything varies--do what you can afford and what works.
