Humidifier

Post by Lily Roseglad » Sat Feb 22, 2014 11:27 am

I have a S9 Resmed Elite with heated humidifier. I fill the water level to the max, but in the morning it looks like 85% or so of the water is still in the tub (the machine has been running 7-8 hours). I live in AZ, a very dry climate. Is that the way it is supposed to be?

I set the heat at maximum. When I do that I cannot increase humidity. If I turn off the heat and increase the humidity, the humidity rains on me.

If that is the way it is supposed to work, do I still need to fill the tub to the max level?

Thanks.

Humidifier

I'm in AZ (Phoenix area) as well and could run my machine a week on the high setting with one fill of the reservoir. It has to do with the relative humidity in your house. My brother in law lives in Tucson and runs his dry in 4 hours on low. I filling about 1/4 at night is all since I dump it daily.

I live in Arizona too. Have mine set on 4.5 and half to refill it every other night. I never dump out what's in there, just top it off. I do open my windows and doors all day so it does get dry in the house.

You can reduce rainout by placing your machine lower than your mattress. I have mine sitting on a small plastic step stool by my bedside. Saves room on your nightstand too.
Hope this helps,

I use my Climateline hose year round. It usually prevents rain-out.
If you are stuck with a non-heated hose, you might want to use a hose cozy or lightly wrap the hose with fleece.

Oh thanks CF - I do have a fleece hose cover on mine made by Pad-A-Cheek! She makes fantastic hose covers - a generous size too. It makes the hose more snugly in bed and keeps it less medical.

I do have a heated hose still in the package thinking I will need it someday. As for now, I use a plain hose with a wonderful fleece hose cover,
Carrie

I live in Arkansas. I have mine set to 5. On the weekends when I get to sleep all the way to 8 am mine will be empty.

I have to refill mine every day. I have my machine set at 70 degrees. I thought that was the norm, must not be tho. Any suggestions?
