Husband is having his sleep test

Post by Janknitz » Wed Feb 19, 2014 2:04 am

My husband is asleep with his Itamar Watch Pat on having his home sleep test. Boy did he complain about the probes on two fingers and the unit which is like a big wristwatch on his arm! I told him to appreciate the fact that he wasn't wired up with lots of goo and sleeping in a srange be while people watched him all night. He's going to be really fun if he turns out to need a mask!

I sure hope he doesn't turn out to have apnea. He has a herniated disk that's interfering with his sleep and he's been snoring a lot, so they decided to check him out. He said he really does NOT want to have to deal with CPAP. I can sympathize, but if he needs it I'll be more help than he was to me.

Its interesting that I've felt little twinges of envy, because if he needs CPAP he'll get a newer, fancier machine than mine. I'm surprised at myself! But if he needs a machine, I'll be glad he is getting treated, and if not I'll be glad he doesn't need it.

5 more minutes until midnight, it will be our 25th wedding anniversary. Here's to 25 more, matching CPAPs or not.

I wish him luck in the sleep study

I hated that goop that they used to glue the wires to my scalp... it took some scrubbing & lots of hot water to finally get rid of it all

I also hope he doesn't have to wear the mask, but if he does, then he is very lucky to have you! Best wishes...!!

I've felt little twinges of envy, because if he needs CPAP he'll get a newer, fancier machine than mine.

Any good wife can fix that easily. Take the new machine and give him yours.

I hate to admit it, but that is exactly what I was thinking.

As a newbie, he just would not appreciate the new technology like a seasoned veteran would.

Tell him he can have it back when you qualify for a new one on your own.

How did he do with the test? Do you care to tell his results? Perhaps you don't know yet.

It still takes about three weeks for results.

Will be awaiting your update, hope it turns out he doesn't need cpap, having a herniated disc is enough to deal with. But if it turns out he does need treatment he's in good hands.

Happy 25th Anniversary!! I remember our 25th because I spent the night of our anniversary in the sleep lab getting my first sleep test!

I was sitting watching a video about sleep apnea in a room with 4 men. We were all in our pajamas!

Most don't forget their 25th Anniversary. I will sure remember mine!
