Or is this congestion something new that only happens with the mask on? Sometimes for some people the pressure of a mask (even one so slight as the Wisp) can cause congestion and when that happens a mask that doesn't put pressure across the nose needs to be tried.
Humidifier setting also may impact things...some people need more and some people need less.
I feel like I am in the same boat as Gavin. I have snored for a long time regardless of whatever weight I am. I am hoping CPAP is the answer and not surgery. I have not been checked for a deviated septum but maybe I should?
For me it's not some much congestion as it just feels like pressure collapsing my nose as soon as I put the mask on. I will wake up and blow my nose but I don't get anything out.

Capn,
If a doc has ever looked up your nose during an exam, they'd be able to tell if you had a seriously deviated septum. Most of us have some minor deviations in the septum that don't affect breathing; and a septum that is deviated enough to affect breathing will affect both wake breathing and sleep breathing.

Pugsy wrote about this in your thread: It could be the mask is pressing on the side of your nose in such a way as to cause the problem. The "fix" for that problem is to try a different mask and possibly a different style mask altogether. You might want to consider trying a nasal pillows mask that does not touch the sides of the nose at all.
