4 year follow up study

Post by trytryagain » Sat Feb 01, 2014 8:58 am

I haven't been frequenting this site as often as I used to. I started cpap in 2010, and have been a faithful user. Tomorrow I am going for a follow up study, suggested my my neurologist because of continual daytime sleepiness. Although my reports have been consistently below 5. How will this follow up be different than my original. What will they be looking for? I currently use the Resmed S9 Auto. My doctor said it may be time for a new one. The detailed reports from the software are no longer showing my AHI, all other reports such as flow, leaks etc. are still showing up. If I do get a new machine does anyone have any recommendations, other than Resmed? Or should I stick with the S9? Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Hi, nice to see you again. What's your pressure set at, and have you tried moving it up a notch, or possibly even considering a trial of tape and/or a FF mask in case you've started mouth breathing along the way?

What are your pressure settings in the machine?

If you're using a range of pressures, that could be the cause of your daytime sleepiness. The pressure changes could be bumping you out of your needed sleep stages. That will result in the problem you describe.

The missing AHI could be a (known) problem with the S9. Try unplugging the machine for a little bit and then plug it back in and see if the AHI returns.

Why your Doc says that you need a new machine to solve your Daytime Sleepiness?

My dr. feels that a follow up is warranted to check for possible pressure adjustments, restless legs etc. He is not blaming the machine for my continued daytime sleepiness. The Dr. and I both were concerned that the machine is not reporting my AHI. It may just need an adjustment by the DME company or maybe a replacement. I would like to hear opinions on machines other that the S9. I have been very happy with it until this malfunction.

My pressure is at 10. When I first started my dr. Had the machine set 8-16 . My reports were most consistent at around 10.
