Newbie with frequent dificulties staying asleep
Re: Newbie with frequent dificulties staying asleep
I tried several of the tweaks suggested last night (washing face, fitting with full pressure, watching videos to determine fit). I was able to fall asleep with the ramp, but I woke up a couple of times due to lots of air around eyes and cheeks. So, I turned it off after about 4.5-5 hours. Gonna try to adjust the pressure to a lower setting next. I'll also hope to have my DME come out again and fit me with a small Quattro FX. I may also ask for the Quattro Air to try as well. Thanks for all the help.
Re: Newbie with frequent dificulties staying asleep
Like Pugsy I've found that my nasal pillows and humidified air really help with nasal congestion. I'm just now finishing up with a cold; here's my routine: squeeze bottle nasal flush about a half hour before bed; steroid nasal spray (NOT Afrin etc.) fifteen minutes later; pre-heat my humidifier water just before bed. The notion is to have clear nasal passages when you go to bed, and get that humidified air pumping right away. Work with that small moment of clear passageways! Then, saline nasal spray during the night if needed--usually, not.

Re: Newbie with frequent dificulties staying asleep
So I'm going in again on Monday to try on a bunch of different masks. Hopefully something will work better than what I have. I feel like I'm getting a ton of pushback from doctor and especially from DME that now is the time to try masks, I only get one switch, so choose carefully, etc. No one has mentioned nasal pillows. I'm wondering if I can go into DME's office to ask about those too, or if they will only give me a mask since I haven't been prescribed from nasal pillows. Sigh.
