12 yrs on CPAP, and just started losing air through my mouth
I have been on CPAP for 12 years using a nasal mask. The past few nights I woke up a few times losing air through my mouth. I never have had this problem before. I don't know if this is connected, but I have lost 33 pounds since 10 October 2013. Last night I put a piece of blue painters tape over my mouth and it seemed to work fairly well. I have a short goatee. I am looking for a recommendation for a face mask that works with a short goatee. Thanks!

I don't use one, but a lot of people in this forum use chin straps.

I don't know if you really wanna go with something that different, since you been using the same mask fit twelve years.
I, too, have a short goatee and I mouth breathe terribly, so I use a Quattro Air. Now my QA is set a little tighter than it is meant to be, but that is because of the hair and mouth drop leaks. I have ordered a chin strap and hopefully that will allow me to ease the tightness a little.
Are you catching a cold? have unusual sinus congestion?
If you are looking for a ffm as a backup I would recommend the Quattro Air and that is just my preference because I am a mouth breather. I have only been on cpap for a month and have never used nasal pillows because when I tried then at titration it felt like someone pushed two fingers up my noise ( no air flow). The nasal mask just felt uncomfortable, I don't think the rt had any clue how to adjust it. So I went with the ffm, which in hind sight was a great choice for s mouth breather. I had no idea what to expect because I didn't find this forum till after I started cpap
