Hi All
I'm getting a new machine. There's nothing wrong with the one I have but it has nearly 14k blower hours on it so my doctor and insurance approved a new one. I'm getting a Resmed S9 Autoset which the doctor (without talking to me about it) wrote the prescription for a low of 5 and high of 20. He's not a specialist. He's just my general doctor that I just started with in December since I had moved and needed a new GP. I didn't even know they had written the prescription until the DME called me a short while ago. The last I had heard the Nurse was contacting my original Sleep Doctor to confirm my diagnosis. I was pretty happy when I told the DME that was the machine I wanted and he said no problem and didn't try to change the quoted price or give any trouble at all. My current pressure is 15.5 and I have a thirty day average ahi of .3 so I'm getting very effective treatment. As far as I'm concerned I can just set it on 15.5 and move on with my life but I'm willing to give the dynamic settings a try. What would you recommend as a starting lower pressure because I'm sure as heck not leaving it on 5. Any other settings I should be looking at?
I'm assuming someone has a post somewhere with how to get in to change the settings on this machine they would be willing to point me towards.

Re: Getting new machine: Advice on settings
If you are not going to set it at 15.5 and want to try the AUTO setting, I would set it at 14/18. However...since you have such a low AHI I think I would stay with the 15.5 unless you are having some sleep issues.

I would go here and request the clinical/provider manual for the S9
http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-p ... tup-manual
Here's the short version of how to get into the clinical setup menu area.

There's also a little video at the bottom of the page.
Read up on the Climateline heated hose option.
For pressure settings...if you want to use apap mode you may or may not need that 15.5 cm all the time but your body is going to be used to having it so I wouldn't make any wild changes to start with.
I would suggest starting with a tight small range that is real close to what you are using now and then if you want to try lower minimum pressure in APAP mode...go down slow and in small amounts and you will be more comfortable.
