It does a lot more than my current setup because it is a different kind of machine. It also goes about what it does that is similar to how my machine addresses OSA just a little differently.
This is an experiment done solely because I like to experiment and the last night I experimented with a different type of machine (went from single pressure to dual pressure) I had some really good and unexpected results.
I am curious...plain and simple.

The ASV type of machine is used mainly to treat people with significant problems with Central Apneas (as well as obstructives) but I really don't have any problems with centrals. It's more machine than I need...I know that. I just want to see what it is like.

I started with cpap, then to bipap and on to ASV. Seems like my insurance company would have come out big to have started straight into an ASV. They would have bought one machine instead of two and saved three sleep studies at least. That said I really like the ASV and adapted well but sometimes miss the feel of higher pressure. When stuffy sometimes the ASV does not push through hard enough to get me breathing.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth

I was diagnosed in Autumn of 2008.

I had more events on the titration than I did without the machine.

The RT at the DME looked at this, and said, "If your doctor will write the script for it, I think you should have an ASV." I said, "Fine, as long as I can read my data myself."

I was originally set at EPAP=10, MinIpap=10, and MaxIpap=14.

Could NOT breathe out against the 10. Could NOT. Talked to RT, talked to doc. She changed the script to an EPAP of 6, and that's where I've been every since.

I cannot imagine single pressure -- I couldn't breathe out against a pressure that might help the hypopneas.

And ordinary dual-pressure didn't work. But a constant EPAP with a variable IPAP works perfectly for me.

I'm super glad I got an ASV from the start because I would have lost my mind trying to make anything else work.

I too had more events on the titration than I did without the machine. We are part of a small group for whom CPAP just doesn't work, we need ASV.

I didn't get an ASV from the start and did lose my mind trying to make CPAP work. I live in NZ where the NHS-style health system has next to no choice of doctor. My first sleep doc was adamant that ASV wouldn't help me and would be a waste of public money to provide a machine "purely for my comfort". So I borrowed money to buy a brand new ASV myself, after travelling to another city to see a sleep doc privately, also at great expense. I have now moved to another part of NZ, and my new sleep doc says that he would have provided a free machine to me. I'm just grateful for online patient-centred forums like this one, that made me aware of ASV.

I've been on the Adapt for a week now with it in Auto ASV. I've had a reading of 1.4 and 1.3 caused by one hypopnea each night and the other 5 nights have been 0.0. This is by far the easiest machine to breath with, even though I did go up to 20 as my highest reading which I never felt. I guess I'm like Mark as my IP on my VPAP auto was 18 so being use to high pressure has it's advantage when switching to the Adapt. This Adapt is definitely my number 1 machine from here on out and use my VPAP Auto as a backup. My leaks still average out at 0 and I'm sleeping the best ever since starting cpap and over all I feel great.

Quick update on my adapting to the S9 Adapt....non issue and pretty boring report.
Had no idea what settings to use so just went with factory defaults.
Took to it like a duck to water.
