Full sleep study report needed for Medicare/Apria

Post by Eureka » Sat Jan 11, 2014 9:33 pm

Here in Portland, Oregon we are part of the new "Competitive Bidding Program for certain Durable Medical Equipment" for Medicare coverage. The supplier where I got my cpap supplies didn't win the bid, so I have to switch companies. I'm trying Apria. The documentation that has worked for five years is not adequate now. The summary sleep study info (two pages) won't work. I have to get the whole sleep study. Of course, a phone call won't work. I downloaded the request form, filled it out, signed it and mailed it back to the midwest where I had my sleep study done. Now to wait before I can get my supplies. No big deal, but just an inconvenience. Not all areas are under the competitive bidding program, but I suspect it will continue to spread. So if you don't have a copy of your sleep study now, it might be good to get one for future use.
