MY DME wont let me switch out my mask

I got a 30 day trial for my AMARA respironics FFM and my DME wont let me change it, as i still have 4 days on my 30 day trial.
I hate the AMARA mask i have used it for 3 nights and its awefull.

Do you guys know if i can sell this mask somewhere i know its a hygene thing, but at least can i sell everythign but the cushions to be more hygenic?

Definitely change to another DME. Be sure to tell them why you are switching. All DME's have the capability to return used masks to the manufacterer for full credit. Often they do not even need to return it. They just fill out a report to get their credit. Some DMEs allow 1 exchange others allow multiple. There are lots of DMEs around. Check with your insurance to find out which are in their network. If you don't have insurance buy from cpap.com and purchase "return insurance".

You were supposed to try the gel cushion. If you have time on the return there is no reason they shouldn't switch it.

You could sell a used mask online but who would want it for more than a few dollars.

If you can't return & want to offer it to someone here for free, you won't get any actual money but you might see someone here eventually offer a mask you want to try. That's a 'pay it forward' kind of approach if you are stuck with it anyway.

Another thought might be for you to contact the manufacturer direct, they might work with you? Not sure about that approach but could be worth a try.

I'm confused... You said your DME won't let you change it because you still have 4 days left on your 30 day trial. Is that correct? Normally, you just have to return something "within 30 days". If you wait 4 days and go back in will the DME exchange it then?

Next you said you have only used the Amara mask for 3 nights. Do you mean you've had it for almost 30 days and have only used it for 3 nights?

And when you return it they will tell you you misunderstood and should have returned it within the 30 day period (because that is what is normal anyway)

I think there's been a miscommunicaton between you and the DME, the usual deal is to exchange masks WITHIN the 30day period. I'd make a call asap so you don't lose out on an exchange.

If the DME has multiple locations, call other locations to see if you get the same answers. My Lincare office is WAY different than their other ones, even within the same district manager or whatever they call it.... Best bet is salvage any exchange rights on this mask then go find a new DME!!
