How to use that Cpap warranty

Post by Ruinednose » Fri Jan 03, 2014 11:41 pm

So.. if you are near the warranties end, there is a way to cause a defect in the respironics machines via the use of the SD card.
It will cause a troubleshoot bloower off.on. sequence and the DME will replace your machine.
Im gonna look into it but its something interesting due to how expensive these machines are.,
i just got my machine not long ago and have 2 years of warranty, but i would definetly like to use it, before it craps out on me.

ill repost later my findings.

So, you want to intentionally damage your machine so that you can get a new one at the end of the warranty period?

You do realize that if they do replace it, you will get the exact same model right? And if the machine truly breaks after the warranty, but before 5 years, most insurance companies will replace it anyway. Why commit fraud just to get a new machine?

And do you realize that posting something like this just makes it harder for people with real problems with their machines to get them replaced?

for my situation, i dont got insurance. if the manufacturer can only warranty 2 years it makes me scared, i dont have another 1300$ to crap out, its not fraud, im able to change my sd card information at will, nothing said against that.

like i said i got 2 years on it. and i wont change a thing untill 22 months,
i simply don't have the money to shell out because phillips like many other electronic companies put a "stopwatch" on their products, so we have to keep buying it,

im simply stating what can be done, i don't care of your ethical opinions or anything, im posting the info and its here if you want to use it or to laugh at it. but its here, and im sure some are interested in using,

if you can afford decent quality health insurance, then power to you.
i can't. so ill do what i gotta do.

Most machines last more than 5 years, certainly more than 2 years. Breaking it early (rendering it unusable on purpose) *IS* fraud.

Consider a much better option. In the next 2 years, buy a backup via craigslist, secondwind, or from one of the regular trusted sellers here. You can get one for $500 or less, during that time, and at the end of that warranty, you will have TWO machines, both likely to work for many years, AND you won't have to deal with the hassle and go without your machine during that time. I've been looking for a backup so that I can leave the main machine at home when I travel. I found a Resmed S9 autoset for $229. I'm hoping to get it next week if it is still available. I realize it may not be, but I can't afford to buy it this week. Usually, they are in the $300-500 range.

Encouraging people to destroy their machines to use a warranty is encouraging people to commit fraud, AND it drives up the cost of the machines and makes it harder for valid claims to get processed.

Don't you realize that part of the price of products is to cover the cost of theft? In stores, they have to make up for shoplifting. With machines like this, they have to cover the cost of scams.

Do you normally break things right before their warranties expire?

I thought you were okay ruinednose.... until I read your OP.

You are pathetic. It is people like you who abuse the warranty system that cause the high prices of equipment. Instead of thinking of ways to abuse the system, think of ways to save up money so you can buy a new machine if needed

And what happens if....you wreck your machine and it is sent back to the manufacturer. They determine that it was not a manufacturer defect. You are now without a machine. .

its something im considering doing for sure if obama care or other insurances will not help me out with getting a new machine when i need one.

i saw a post here that we can buy machines from craigslist. i like how thats not considered a fraud or unethical due to machines being RX its like me buying some klonopin w\hen my scrip runs out cause HEY, i get those prescribed so why not?

i hope obamacare will give a shit, but all ive heard about it so far is negative stuff.
anyways, my ideology wont change with the posts here trying to make me feel bad, as ive stated i don't care for your ethical opinion, but i see thats ignored,
simply wanting to let the info out there and that you can do this. i mean what if the machine does shit out 3 years into therapy and u got no insurance, what you to do? THE DOC will want you to get another sleep study probably. i know i paid 850$ for mine, and then the machine, they want an arm and leg just so you can breathe in your sleep.
everyone does what they want, really, whats best for them

You are not the only one that is poor/uninsured.... there are a bunch of us on the forum, but we do not go to questionable or unethical ways to accomplish what we need or do. Poor you, you think you are "entitled" to get a new machine for free once your warranty runs out....... my question to you is, do you smash your tv or car once your warranty runs out???????
Gee, I guess I am entitled to get a new car as mine is just about to run out of warranty, so maybe I should gunk up the engine so that its inoperable...NOT!!!!!!!!!!
You need to learn that you are not as entitled as you think you are, fraud is fraud no matter how great you think it is.

Wow unbelievable do you really think your the only person without insurance or a load of money.... Well your not I also do not have insurance due to a back problem I am currently unemployed and to top it of I live in Australia where Cpap prices are triple the cost in the US... I had no clue how I was going to get a machine but with good advice from people here and a lot of readjusting of my finances I was able to buy a machine from secondwind... trust me it was not easy for me to get a machine but I did it I had even gone to a local charity who would of given me a low interest loan if I had been unable to find the money... Rather than looking for ways to rip people off why not try to find a solution if you look there is always a way.

No YOU are misunderstanding............ there have been 6 or 7 posts on this thread ALL telling you that you are WRONG.... so who is misunderstanding, not me nor the other six folks that have replied, so it has to be you.

You can get a machine a lot cheaper then that by going on line or buying privately ie craigslist or kijiji or from one of the people selling here. Buying privately is not illegal and certainly a lot more legal then committing fraud. Which is what I did, bought a newer better model for $500. My Resmed S8 is now my back up and travel machine (and nearly 4 or 5 years old)

You realize of course they could just fix the machine and send it back or send you a reconditioned machine with a 3 month warranty.
