Encore Software in Wondows 8.1

I know many others have posted; and it seems there is software available to read the M-series smart card data. Can anyone provide a link to the software?
I have Encore Pro 1.8 and as others have noted, it does not work in Win 8. Tried a virtual machine but do not have WinXP, and my old Win7 install is an upgrade so could not install VM properly...

There is talk on this thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=60739&st=0&sk=t&sd=a of a Win 8.1 workaround to get Encore working. I think the folks that know how to do it are possibly off holidaying at the moment though.
