Mask Question

Post by Chiefswife » Tue Dec 24, 2013 7:45 am

Good Morning,

I have a question about the Swift FX for her nasal pillows. I was using the Mirage FX for her and it felt comfortable most of the time until it didn't. I started feeling a bit claustrophobic and I could not get comfortable on my sides, which is how I sleep. My numbers were great with that mask other than me taking it off because of the reasons above. I called my DME yesterday and she told me to come on in and she would let me take another mask for a trial over the holidays. She gave me the Swift FX for her Nasal Pillows. I like the comfort of the headgear on my face. I put it on last night and kind of didn't like feeling like I had something right on my nose but figured I would get use to that. My question is this: Is it suppose to feel like such a battle to exhale with these on? Breathing in was fine and felt normal. Exhale felt like I was having to fight the small holes and I wasn't going to get it all out. I just felt I fought that part until I fell asleep. I did get 6 good hours on it with great numbers. I am using the XS size. Any help is always appreciated. I hope everyone has a great holiday. :c)

You might want to try the next larger size pillow if the XS is riding up into your nares. (assuming you got to bring the larger sizes home from the DME) I had to go from M to L with my Opus 360.

I also found the XS pillows difficult to breathe through--ask the DME for the small pillows if they "took" them from the package.
Resmed only sells this mask as a fit pack, so your small is somewhere.

My DME gave me the small ones which made it super hard for me to get my lung volume of air in and out. I got the medium a and large from him (pack came with s,m&l), they worked much better.

Thanks Everyone! I have already switched out the XS for the SM and will give it a try tonight. I was lucky and she gave me all 3 sizes even though it was just a trial over the holidays to see if I like them so I can switch out the Mirage FX.
