mask liners act like a gasket between your face and the cushion... A lot of leaks come from the facial oils that build up on your skin during the night.... The reason we reccommend that you wash your face before going to bed is to remove those facial oils.
personally, I prefer pad-a-cheek liners.... they are re-usable.... Rem ZZ are not....
my 1st set of pad-a-cheek liners lasted 13 months before I had to replace them. If I was crafty, I could have replaced the tiny velcro fasteners.

how does that work and how can it stop leaks???

I tried out the new gel cushion last night and then again today for a short nap. I like it way better than the silicone. I thought it was very comfortable. No marks on my nose either. It's also the first time in years I slept all night with out getting up at least once. You may want to give it a try.
I'm brand new to CPAP. Please be patient with me.
