No CPAP supplies from Medicare?

Post by RonMatson » Mon Dec 16, 2013 10:30 pm

Today I was told by both my apnea doctor and by a DME that Medicare no longer provides CPAP supplies. This was news to me. Has anybody else experienced this?

Perhaps you failed compliance, or did not get all the paperwork done. (or maybe your apnea is not severe enough)
They pay 80 percent of mine; my supplement covers the rest.
I have gotten a new mask, heated hose, dish-washable humidifier tank, and filters.
I will be getting new cushions and more filters in a few days.
If I want accessories, like mask liners, a hose lift or a special pillow, I'm on my own.
Call Medicare directly and ask them to explain why the doc & DME said what they did; and how you can get that changed.

Nonsense! Call Medicare. I have Medicare + a supplement and recently received a mask, filters and a hose.

Call 1-800- Medicare.

Most likely the DME did not win a competitive bidding contract with Medicare (a major change in how medicare pays for cpap supplies) and you need to find a different DME which did get a Medicare contract. If this is the DME your doctor likes to refer people to, he/she may have misunderstood being told that Medicare no longer covers THIS DME.
