Aloha nasal

Post by dozyboy2002 » Fri Dec 13, 2013 7:23 pm

Hello all;

After nine months my swift LT, is about wore out. Looking at the cost of new headgear, and a couple of pillows, I decided a new mask was not much more money. I have a Aloha nasal pillow unit ordered. I searched in the forum for opinions on this mask.

Anybody else has some pro's/con's? Maybe some advise for fit etc? Thanks in advance.

Jeff.

I think this note thread has some great info:

I've been using the Aloha for over a year now. I started with a True Blue Nasal mask, but after 30 days, switched to the Aloha nasal pillow mask, and I haven't looked back.

The mask shipped with the medium pillows attached, and at first, it seemed like they would work fine, but once I started the air, it was clear that there was not enough airflow for me, and I switched to the large pillows.

Expect to adjust the straps a few times over the first few nights. It takes a bit of effort to find the right mix between not too tight, and not too loose. I would recommend that you start by making initial fittings while sitting up, but then lie down and turn on the air. You don't want it to be so tight that your nose is pushed up like a pig. Really, you want it as loose as you can without leaking. That is the way it'll be the most comfortable.

I washed my straps about once every 2 weeks, and they lasted about a year before I replaced the headgear. Looking back, I wished I had replaced the headgear sooner as it seems to lose some elasticity after about 8 months.

Good Luck!

Hi Jeff -- the Aloha is the reason I'm able to hang in there with PAP therapy! If you liked your LT I think you'll really like the Aloha. Silicone is not irritating and the nasal pillow base does not sit so heavy on the upper lip as do other NP masks. The mask is lightweight with several ways to adjust the fit. The only negative is that I have to wear a cpap mask at all.

Lanky Lefty has a review/fitting video on youtube.

First night on the Aloha nasal. Slept very well. Mask was very comfy, no leaks. AHI score of 1.0 this morning. May have found a winner here.

Jeff.
