PR Machine Question

Post by Indyellen » Tue Dec 10, 2013 11:51 am

I have noticed that my machine (a System One) now is changing in sound with every breath. So, as I inhale, it's softer and as I exhale it's louder. I don't remember the motor/blower sounding that way when I first got it. Is something wrong with it, or did I just never notice it before? I know it's a silly question, but it drives me nuts when I'm trying to fall asleep, because I'm trying to figure out if it's broken.

Sometimes once we notice something that has always been there it can really be annoying because we notice it even more.
We have no way of knowing if what you are hearing is simply something that has always been there and you are just now more annoyed by it or if something has indeed changed.

When was the last time you changed the filters? Replaced the white fine filter and/or washed the gray foam filter?
I have PR S1 machine..I get more noise on inhale and hardly any on exhale...but it has always been there. Some nights it annoys me and some nights I hardly notice it.

Sometimes the Flex exhale relief setting makes a difference..you might try either changing it if you use it or turn it off...or if you don't use it turn it on.

If it seems to really be loud and keeping you awake..take it back to the supplier and see what they think...maybe something has indeed happened.

Have you changed the route your hose takes? Have you changed your sleeping position? Have you stopped using the humidifier? Have you changed the surface the machine sits on? Is your mask old/new and leaking a bit?

I had this happen and the noise was loud enough it would wake me up. Turned out to be a bad valve. Machine replaced by DME under warranty.

Dirty filters will cause some changes too but if it is a marked change might be time to exercise the warranty.
