Ugh, stupid prices - I need cheap headgear for mirage quat.

Post by Black Shampoo » Fri Dec 06, 2013 2:52 pm

I've realized recently just how stretched out my mirage quattro's headgear has gotten, and I'm getting leaks way more frequently. I went to order a new one and it's $31 - just for the crappy stretchy part, not even the clips, which are another TEN dollars. Man, I hate the stupid prices of medical accoutrements.

Where can I get the best price on something like this!?

That's pretty much the "best" price on them. Mine last for YEARS......same thing with seals/cushions, so while that seems a little pricy, it is what it is, and if you can make them last for a long time, it isn't quite so bad.
In the 8 1/2 years I've been on CPAP, I've only actually worn out ONE set of headgear on my Ultra Mirage Full Face and I saved the clips from it to use on another one.

If the headgear is stretching out too quickly, perhaps it is being worn too tight.
Pad-a-Cheek strap covers may help keep it cleaner.
Our hosts also have universal headgear for lower prices.

How long have you used the mask. I have been using my Quattro with its original headgear for almost 15 months. I just change the cushion every 6-8 months.

My headgear lasts about 6 months. Check out E-bay. I've gotten several quattro items very inexpensive. Just paid $55 for TWO new unopened cushions with free shipping.

I will be happy to send you an unused Mirage Quattro headgear if you are interested. The DME I had in 2008 did not provide new cushions monthly - instead they provided a full mask with headgear every 3 months. I did not use all the headgear but the package is open.

Don't underestimate the usefulness of a sewing machine and some old jeans for strips of cloth.
