Re: Not allow to leave liquid oxygen reservoir outside?
Just curious here. Why use liquid O2 rather than a concentrator?nakedjaxx wrote:I have been on oxygen 24/7 for 8 years now. I use Helios liquid system for going out and abouts. Medigas comes every 2 weeks to refill my liquid oxygen reservoir. I usually carry the near empty reservoir outside my doorstep and the Medigas guy would come refill it and I would get someone to help me bring it back inside at night. (It weights over 100 lbs) I have to do this, as I do not want to sit by the door all day waiting for delivery and so I've been doing it this way for the past 8 years. It works.
Now I am told I'm not allow to leave my tank outside anymore. Oh really? So now you are concern? I've been doing it for the past eight years no problem. No one is going to steal the tank or even see it.
Best part, they missed my delivery last week and I told I need to go out so they better come soon. The Medigas rep said, oh just leave it outside. Wtf?? I thought not allowed!!! I hate Medigas and can't believe they get $400 a month as me a customer.
/sorry end of rant
Does anyone leave their reservoir unintended outside for a few hours?

That is what I was wondering. I also wonder why they wouldn't bring it in the house for you. I am new to 24/7 oxygen and I hate having to bring tanks everywhere I go. I just found out that I can get a portable concentrator for out and about. My insurance covers it 100%. I don't have it yet but it will be a wonderful Christmas gift to me.

Lincare brings it through the house for my sister-in-law, and hooks up the airline if needed.
They ring the doorbell, and she lets them in; they bring their cart in and pick up the empties.
She needs a LOT of oxygen, so the tanks are BIG.

The advantage of liquid oxygen is the size. Eight hours of liquid oxygen is much lighter and smaller than eight hours of compressed oxygen or a portable concentrator. Also if one is on high flow rate, concentrators may not work where liquid oxygen will.

I got a Xmas gift too from Lincare, believe it or not. For the last 9 months my O2 pump has been requiring longer and longer to get started. It starts and runs 5 minutes and error faults out, it used to be a reset it once and good, now it 5 times and 20 minutes before it works right. Lincare came to check if snd I had the wife wake me do I could tell him about it. He changed it out with a New Invacare Perfecto V, I haven't used it yet but it's really quiet, its my third unit and so far each generation is quieter. .. I think quieter also means it will use less electricity. I wish my ins would reimburse my for buying out of pocket over the years they could have saved a lot of money.... With a big tank and one hand-carry tank, you can go off-grid for days.
Just stay in cell range and travel distance to nearest LinCare (yours or theirs--their choice).
The biggest glitch would be air travel. I don't imagine that is ever easy.

Update on my Lincare O2 Christmas Gift. It's great Except, it fails after about 7 hours, with a alarm. Not a biggy for my needs, so I will catch them on the next check in.
